What I did on my long weekend ...

Last week I took a couple of extra days off work and made a nice long 4 day weekend for myself. With money being tight, our vacations this summer are just hanging out around home. I decided this long weekend was going to me all mine, well at least the days were all mine .. I still had the family around in the evenings .. damm lol

I spend my days reading (Dark Lover), cleaning and organizing my stitching room (why don't I put my threads away when I'm done with them??!!), finishing a couple of Christmas ornaments (yea I do finishing when I have to! lol) and stitching stitching stitching .. it was heaven!

I stitched on Earth Laughs .. omgosh I love how this is coming together .. makes me smile to see all the flowers ..

I worked on Coffin Buzz .. I had to frog the scroll at the bottom right. I hate frogging but frogging over one is just nasty! Unfortunately I didnt' frog this sooner and there is some discoloration .. I'm bummed, but almost done, so I'll finish it and hopefully it won't show up as much as it does now ...

And I finished up this Halloween cutie. This is Black Cat from BBD's Trix or Treat book. I stitched on some orange linen that I had coffee dyed and I used WDW Guacamole in place of WDW Caper. I really like how the green looks against the orange ..

I love productive but relaxed vacations .. don't you? lol I have another 4 day weekend coming up soon .. wonder what I'll get accomplished then?

Thanks everyone for dropping by for a visit, I love reading your comments.

Find your joy in your stitches ...

I'm grateful for days off ...

Lovely finish and WIPs!

I hear you on the threads. I do the same thing. I took my threads on vacation thinking I'd be able to stitch and then realized I'd left some of them on another floss ring from my last project--back in the drawer at home. Argh. It's nice to spend the time getting stuff organized, though, isn't it?

Such beautiful and fun projects Michele! I love Earth Laughs with all the different colors for the flowers. It's so cheerful! And, thanks for reminding me I wanted to stitch some things out of the Trix or Treat booklet. As for the discoloration on your Coffin Buzz piece - if this is the same kind of discoloration that happens when you frog reddish color threads - just take some non-sticky tape like the old fashioned pink tape (which you can buy on Amazon!), and it takes the residue of the thread causing the discoloration right away.

I never put my threads away after finishing a piece either!

Very nice! Coffin buzz looks fine, I don't see anything wrong. :) And I do the same with my threads- especially DMC. I just put a bunch back in my thread organizers the other day.

Hi Michele,

You are working on some great projects. That's nice you had some days off and time for you! I feel your pain on frogging over 1. I'm doing a name tree over 1 and had to frog. :(

Have a wonderful weekend!

I love holidays at home, especially if you get alone time.

"stitching stitching stitching" really sounds like heaven. I like the same things on my days off, just a bit of decluttering and cleaning (looks so nice afterwards, lol), a bit of organizing the shelves or whatever, a bit or reading and stitching.

Doesn't it feel great to declutter - I wish cluttering things up wasn't such fun too! So many stitching things to collect - so little time. Earth Laughs is so bright and cheerful - it makes me feel good to look at it. Hope the discoloration is fixable - to my eye the whole piece looks fine.

Wowy look at you! such grear progress. You make me want to start my Earth Laughs right this minute! It is a smiling pattern, isn't it.

Congrats on the in-house vacation--- btw, if you find the cause of not-putting-the-thread-away-itis, please let me know.
